On the other side of the door, the chill of late afternoon in Gotham awaits. The sun is nearly down, and there is a stiff breeze. A newspaper drifts by.

"Welcome to Gotham."

The old man grins. "More of the same is quite fine, Miss Bird. A few more of these" - he holds up the rubies - "and I could retire to Florida."

"So we have a deal then?" Knox is starting to feel just a tiny bit anxious. The longer he's here, the more that could backfire on him.

"Yes, Mister Nervous, we do."

She takes back all but the agreed upon jewels and lets Knox have the Bat parts. Oh if she is going to do business in Gotham she will need to know everything she can about the Batman so the parts will prove useful.

"Pleasure doing business with you." then looks to Knox to follow his lead.

"Yeah. Have a nice day." Knox smiles, but it less than entirely comfortable that he's crossed the line just a bit.

The old man wraps the parts in bubble wrap, bags them, and waves them into the night. And Knox leads the way out.

[OOC: mun figures that by connections you meant the mob?]

"That was certainly interesting." turning to Knox, "What's wrong?"

"Oh, I'm just not used to being that deep on the other side. I get you were a thief. And I know that this is Gotham. But I like to stay on the good side of the law. Not good for me to be seen otherwise." Knox is not upset so much as just uncomfortable.

[ooc: I have no idea what those connections are, either. It's up to Knox to let me know if he finds out. :)]

[OOC: nods]

"Well if you want the story but don't want to do that anymore then I would be fine with continuing the relation with the shopkeeper and report back to you. Besides the more you are around here the higher the chances of you getting recognized. Mr. Nervous." she teases.

Oh how she hopes that Knox will let her come back to continue with this. Even if it ends up to help bring these guys down she likes this place, it really is perfect for those in her 'former' profession.

"I think I might have enough to get started. But I do appreciate the offer, Bird. It never hurts having friends who know the other side of things. And you played that guy like a fiddle." Knox is clearly impressed, and a bit jealous of her obvious (if feminine) people skills.

"I think I need to get these back to the office, and then to start making some calls. What do you think I should do first, find out who those suits were, or get in touch with my contacts in the defense industry?"

"No it doesn't. Even Nick used to ask for my help. Sometimes the only way to catch a crook is with a crook."

She has to think about it, "I would find out who the suits are first, that way you'll know who it is that will be trying to keep you from the information then see what your contacts know. Though be careful. I have a feeling that batman isn't going to want pieces to the puzzle out there. You might want to consider keeping those someplace he can't get to them."

"I think if he really cared all that , he'd had swept through the string of stroes selling the pieces." Knox sounds cocky, but he hadn't thought much about it. After all, isn't Batman a good guy? Granted one who will go to great lenghts to keep his secrets.

"I have my hiding places. But I'm going to have to let the experts see what I have, so there's no way they'll be competely secured. But I'm willing to take the risk." They get back to the car, which is in the same sorry shape it was an hour ago.

"I'll drive you back to the door, but then I think I'm gonna stay and get back to work. Been in the Bar too long."

"You should never underestimate anyone trying to keep a secret."

"Yeah and you haven't broken out into song once since we got here." she smiles hopefully. "Well when they aren't being looked at by your experts you may want to bring it back to bar. In fact some of the patrons there might be able to help."

"Hey, you're right! Maybe the spell only works in the Bar. Heck, for all I know there really in no magic here at all, and the rules of nature..." He pauses.

"Though I guess you would want the magic to work, wouldn't you?

"I'll see how my contacts do with the parts first. Better to have sources I can quote." They weave through the traffic, a light rain beginning.

"DOn't worry about me. As far as I can tell he bar links all the worlds so that someone is able to use their magic as if they are on their own world." not that she plans on putting that theory to a test.

"Thank you Knox." she says as she watches the rain fall against the windshield.

"And thank you, Bird. You defitnely made the trip interesting." He smiles at what has been a successful evening.

[ooc: wrap here, I think. Can you post this to the Bar?]
