Gotham City, 1992...

Alexander Knox fights the good fight as a hard-nosed crusading reporter columnist for the Gotham GlobePM. He cannot be intimidated by the cops, by the politicians, or by even the Mob. He knows that there is a truth worth finding, and he goes after it. He is of the old school, a newspaperman and not a "journalist," who worked his way up from copy boy and who still uses his ancient Underwood in a day of word processors.

He is abrasive, sarcastic, and pushy, but also ever-cheerful and determined to make sure that Gotham's elite and its criminal underworld are both held to account.
Oh, and he's also the first man to write about Batman. That gained him a modicum of fame, but as Batman has gone from purely an urban legend to something more, Knox is just another guy watching the Batsignal light up, hoping for the next big Bat-scoop. He also knows that the Age of the Super-Hero is about to begin, and is looking forward to seeing how the world changes for better (he hopes)
