Gotham Revealed

It didn't happen until they were somewhere together--either sitting or even standing near each other--because thats just how these things work sometimes.

But once they've become slightly ensconced with each other, relaxed against the gentle chattering hum of their room, there comes a bouncy voice from right behind them. "I'm not too late, am I?"

And out of nowhere, without any door or light, as was not too unnatural for her, Allie, cute as a button and tiny as always, had appeared for them from wherever she'd needed go, to do those things she had so needed to do.

Rapunzel blinks at the light, and places a hand on Alex's arm, wondering what's going on, but not really afraid--this is a Milliways crowd, after all.

When Allie appears in front of them, her smile is wide as a lump comes to her throat.

"Allie! Alex, it's Allie! She made it!"

"I had to try, since I told him I'd come originally," She says with a grin, and she goes to hug them both.

From:

Alex smiles, surprised by the rather interesting entrance, but glad she's here. And quite taken with how utterly happy Raps is to see Allie. Somehow, it seems right.

"Welcome to my place, and my world."

From:

"Thank you." Allie said, with a small look around the room and people, since all she could see so far was the inside of an apartment.

Looking back at him, with a very small smile, she added. "Your gift is in the kitchen."

"I'm so glad you're here."

She hugs Allie again, and beams at Alex.

From:

"But you really didn't have to get me a gift. Not that i don't appreciate the sentiment." He's loaded, and she's a kid. Something seems unfair.

From:

Allie grinned up at him, still half curled into Rapunzel. "It's a house warming. You're supposed to bring things."

This is said in a tone which just screams DUH, but it's done with a giggle in her voice. She might not be amazing at being a little human girl all the time. But there are moments she does remember her mother raised her right.

From:

"Your being here is gift enough, but it's nice of you."

She turns her smiling eyes to Alex.

"Shall we go and see what it is?"

From:

"Yup." He's made his protest, and now will happily accept anything that Allie got. Maybe it's one of the homemade things that kids do sometimes and that's nicer than something store-bought.

From:

Well, it's a cross gift. Something neither little girl and yet entirely Allie. In the center of the kitchen is a magazine rack, the kind he's wanted for his house though perhaps though about not being able to get.

And resting, most noticeably, in the center of it is a baseball hat.

Still curled in against Rapunzel, she says, with a grin, "I have a matching one."

Hat of course. Not magazine rack.

Rapunzel gives Allie a squeeze and grins at Alex.

"Ah, yes! Now you're ready to begin coaching! Very nicely chosen, Allie."

"Wow. I needed that," he says of the rack, even though his eye is on the cap. Which he picks up and puts on.

"My size. Exactly." It of course has the logo of the Gotham Mets - a big G in orange script on a navy blue background. "Now all we need is some mitts."

"I was hoping maybe you could start teaching me when I come back to the Bar next time."

She was grinning, watching him put on the hat, as such simple things were really all she needed.

From:

"You're not ready to come back to the bar yet? Are things going all right back at home?"

She tries to keep her voice casual, instead of worried.

From:

"You came here directly from your own world?" A perpelxing notion, but not that odd, given Rachel's skills. "That's different."

From:

"It's not a world," Allie mumbled, a little shyly leaning in more toward Rapunzel, seeing as Earth was her world.

She looked up, reluctantly. "Within relative time paradox between space and Milliways, I'm hoping to come back soon on it's time line though time has already passed differently there and will again."

She looks down at Allie, keeping her arm around the girl and smiling widely.

"I'm going to pretend that I understood what you just said."

She chuckles and adds, "I seem to do a lot of that around friends from Milliways."

From:

He didn't understand a word of it.

"My best friend in the place is Rachel. I'm really used to it.

"And I'm all the more sure you two need to meet, Allie."

"I've met her already."

Allie said, looking around the kitchen now.

"That was why I went back."

From:

Rapunzel nods, and strokes Allie's hair with one hand.

"Rachel's unflinching sense of responsibility seems to have struck a chord in our young heroine, here."

She tries not to be unhappy about it, but it's hard.

From:

Alex isn't entirely unhappy about such things. He likes heroes. Even if Allie is just a bit young.

"Really? What did Rachel say to you?"

From:

She resisted the urge to frown, though it may have shown in her expression regardless. She didn't think she was a hero --weren't heroes brave and sure? Didn't they go because they wanted to and knew they had to? Not because they felt guilt? Didn't they go knowing it was right and not heavy in their hearts?-- but really considering contradicting Rapunzel, seemed too much like contradicting her mom.

"About treasuring other people; about the consequences for the multitudes when singular people did nothing."

...and about coming home. She'd said things about home. Which would never leave Allie's mind.

"She liked hats, too." This is said quietly, and sort of sheepishly, because it's easier than the other thing. "And that she might help referee if the kids get the game together."

Rapunzel doesn't have any doubt that Allie is a hero. She has seen her share of heroes in her life, so she would know.

"Once we know who is playing, we can get matching shirts, too."
