Housewarming

The new apartment awaits its guests. Brand new folding chairs line the walls of the dining room, and the living room is as clean as possible.

Almost everything is ready. Let the housewarming begin!

Rapunzel recognizes the woman and child from the wedding she attended with Alex. She smiles and walks over to say hello.

"It's Betty, isn't it?"

She knows that Alex calls her Shufti, but she isn't sure that she still wants to be called that, now that she is married.

"And little Jack?"

Shufti looks up and smiles. She doesn't mind being addressed by either name.

"Hello, and yes. Are you Rapunzel?"

"I am! I was actually at your wedding, but I think you were a bit preoccupied at the time."

She smiles at them both and waves hello to Jack.

"How is married life treating you?"

"Lo" Jack says, hiding behind his mum's leg.

"Yes, I saw you from a distance but I didn't get the chance to say hello, I'm sorry. And it's wonderful, thank you, though complicated."

"He's beautiful," she says of Jack, charmed by his shyness.

She had forgotten how much she adored children before finding her way to Milliways.

"Complicated? Because you're from different worlds?"

"Thank you."

Jack smiles at her shyly, sucking his thumb.

"And yes. We keep going between three, and toddlers have so much stuff."

"It might be easier to keep what you need in both places, and just take the essential things, like his favorite toy or blanket."

She can't imagine what it must be like to have a toddler in this modern era.

"I'm glad it's going well. Have you had any trouble adjusting to life in a new place?"

"Oh we do that, but you try explaining to a toddler that his froggy pyjamas are in a different universe."

Picking up the toddler.

"It is rather difficult. America is very different from the Disc."
