Housewarming

The new apartment awaits its guests. Brand new folding chairs line the walls of the dining room, and the living room is as clean as possible.

Almost everything is ready. Let the housewarming begin!

"Hey, Kita." Alex has no trounle finding her, since it's his place. "Having fun?" He smiles.

A slight grin creases her lips and she nods once. "I like your apartment." It has four walls and a roof, and all the windows are still glassed.

"Thanks. You get to check out the guest room yet?" He doesn't quite understand how rare such things are, but he does want her to feel at home.

"I helped you move the furniture in, remember?" Which is to say, no, not since the time it was overflowing with boxes.

Really, part of the charm is that he doesn't know. It's comforting to think that there are still normal people in the world, people who don't honestly believe that they'll die within the year.

"Yeah, but you haven't seen Rapunzel's touch. She made it sorta like the kind of place teenaged girls might actually like." Which is an accomplishment of sorts, given that she also made sure the rest of the palce feels like his place.

"Yeah?" Makita grins a bit, "Why don't you show me, then?" Somehow she doubts that "things teenaged girls like" and "things teenaged girls who grew up in a warzone like" won't match up, but she's willing to be pleasantly surprised.

He takes Kita to the small guest room. Compared to any room he's ever been associated with, it's rather cozy, painted and furnished in pastels, with two twins beds against either wall. It's not really that girly, except to guys like Knox.

"Nice, huh?"

Her eyes sweep across the room to take everything in. It's... homey. It's... what she dreams her own house may look like one day. When the war's over.

Makita's smile is wistful and her voice soft, "It's great, Alex. I like it a lot."

Alex smiles back. "Thanks.

"Anytime you and your friends wanna get out of the bar, just let us know. We'll get the popcorn and make a movie night of it. And I'll even get out of the way and let you and the girls be all girly." He'll hide in his bedroom.

"We usually just use Steph's room." Makita grins, imagining the damage she and Steph could do to Alex's new place.

"So, you could use s change of scenery. And I have a kitchen. And we have a great pizza place nearby. Better than the Bar, even." Well, not really, but Knox is a Gotham and Surrounding Areas booster. "Have you seen Steph, by the way? I was hoping she'd come."

"I haven't. She'll probably show up late and make some sort of ridiculous entrance." Makita grins, imagining Steph popping in and pulling some sort of big prank.

"I've had two guests materialize from thin air. I think she'd have to go a long way to top that." Thoough he bests Steph would try.

"Don't let her hear you say that, Alex. You know she'll take it as a challenge."

"Actually, it might be fun to see what she does, since she's not a psychic or a demigoddess.

"She isn't one, right?" You can never tell in the Bar.

Makita shrugs, "Not that I've seen, but..." she grins and waggles her eyebrows.

"I hope not. She's a handful as it is." Though if she were that powerful, she'd be alive, so maybe this isn't a happy line of thinking.

"Yeah," that gets a firm nod, "I like her like she is." A lot, really.

"So do I. Which is funny, given that she really didn't like me much at first. Bats and reporters don't usually mix." He smirks a bit.

"Yeah? Well, I think most people mix with Steph pretty good. She's very..." Makita shrugs, not sure what the word is for what Steph is.

"Lively? Boisterous? Cute?" All three fit.

"Yeah... and other stuff too." Turns out that Steph is all that and a bag of chips.

"Looks like she has a fan club.

"Just make sure it doesn't go to her head," says the reporter with the healthy ego.

"Right," Makita snorts, "I can still take her down if I need to." Not in a fair fight, of course, Makita doesn't have the training, but Makita also never fights fair.

Knox may remember a certain snow ambush.

"Heh. That's good to know, in case she ever turns on me again." Yes, he remembers.

"Anyway, I better see how the rest of the guests are doing. Have fun!"
