Housewarming

The new apartment awaits its guests. Brand new folding chairs line the walls of the dining room, and the living room is as clean as possible.

Almost everything is ready. Let the housewarming begin!

Alex smiles back. "Thanks.

"Anytime you and your friends wanna get out of the bar, just let us know. We'll get the popcorn and make a movie night of it. And I'll even get out of the way and let you and the girls be all girly." He'll hide in his bedroom.

"Wow. I needed that," he says of the rack, even though his eye is on the cap. Which he picks up and puts on.

"My size. Exactly." It of course has the logo of the Gotham Mets - a big G in orange script on a navy blue background. "Now all we need is some mitts."

"I was hoping maybe you could start teaching me when I come back to the Bar next time."

She was grinning, watching him put on the hat, as such simple things were really all she needed.

"You're not ready to come back to the bar yet? Are things going all right back at home?"

She tries to keep her voice casual, instead of worried.

She lets the obvious prevarication slide, since Makita looks healthy and whole.

"Not a lot. I picked some flowers I shouldn't have, and ended up sleeping for a couple of weeks. THAT was a lot of hair to clean up, let me tell you."

She grins at the memory.

"Other than that, I've just been hanging out and spending time with Alex. Oh! And there's a girl I want you to meet, when she comes back to the bar. Her name is Allie, and she's only nine, but really, really smart."

"We usually just use Steph's room." Makita grins, imagining the damage she and Steph could do to Alex's new place.

"Oh?" Makita's head tilts curiously, "What's she like?" She's hoping that this Allie girl isn't like herself. No one should have to have grown up like Makita.

"She's very sweet. She actually lives in outer space with her 'other family'. It's kind of complicated."

And how!

"But she wants to start up a sports team with the kids around Milliways, and organize a game against the adults. Maybe you could join in."

"I... sports?" Makita doesn't play a lot of games back home. The truth is, she doesn't play any.

"So, you could use s change of scenery. And I have a kitchen. And we have a great pizza place nearby. Better than the Bar, even." Well, not really, but Knox is a Gotham and Surrounding Areas booster. "Have you seen Steph, by the way? I was hoping she'd come."

"You came here directly from your own world?" A perpelxing notion, but not that odd, given Rachel's skills. "That's different."

"It's not a world," Allie mumbled, a little shyly leaning in more toward Rapunzel, seeing as Earth was her world.

She looked up, reluctantly. "Within relative time paradox between space and Milliways, I'm hoping to come back soon on it's time line though time has already passed differently there and will again."

"I haven't. She'll probably show up late and make some sort of ridiculous entrance." Makita grins, imagining Steph popping in and pulling some sort of big prank.

"I've had two guests materialize from thin air. I think she'd have to go a long way to top that." Thoough he bests Steph would try.

"Don't let her hear you say that, Alex. You know she'll take it as a challenge."

"Actually, it might be fun to see what she does, since she's not a psychic or a demigoddess.

"She isn't one, right?" You can never tell in the Bar.

Makita shrugs, "Not that I've seen, but..." she grins and waggles her eyebrows.

"I hope not. She's a handful as it is." Though if she were that powerful, she'd be alive, so maybe this isn't a happy line of thinking.

"Yeah," that gets a firm nod, "I like her like she is." A lot, really.

She looks down at Allie, keeping her arm around the girl and smiling widely.

"I'm going to pretend that I understood what you just said."

She chuckles and adds, "I seem to do a lot of that around friends from Milliways."

"Yes, sports."

She does her best not to laugh at Makita's apparent bafflement.

"I think we could all use a little more fun and games. Why not an organized team?"

"Um... okay." Makita may not know a lot about playing, but she does know Rapunzel. Knows and trusts. That's enough for at least a tentative agreement.

"Great! I would say that baseball is a little like throwing snowballs, but you're not allowed a cannon in baseball."

"So do I. Which is funny, given that she really didn't like me much at first. Bats and reporters don't usually mix." He smirks a bit.

"My best friend in the place is Rachel. I'm really used to it.

"And I'm all the more sure you two need to meet, Allie."
